The Risen: Remnants
#1 Downloaded Post-Apocalyptic Book. The third book in The Risen series. The Risen: Remnants is the story of Elizabeth Clark and her teen-age daughter as they struggle to survive. Elizabeth must make choices no mother should ever experience if she is to protect her family.
The Risen: Remnants
Beth Clark lives of the edge of an abyss. Everyday is spent fighting for her survival and the survival of her teen daughter, Genny. Their lives have been shattered by a vaccine that was supposed to have been a modern miracle. A vaccine that is turning the living into monstrosities of their former selves.
Now, only remnants remain of their past lives. Mother and daughter will struggle to survive with what this new world holds for them as they discover the dawning of The Risen.
I’m a huge fan of this series and will continue to follow it wherever it may lead. I’m in love with the characters. This short story was one of my favorite pieces thus far. I felt like I could really connect with the mother/daughter scenario. And I loved that. It brought a new perspective to the table and I thoroughly enjoyed delving into this specific storyline.
“The Risen: Remnants” stands as a study of humanity, both at its worst and best, written by someone who has an incredible understanding of the human condition. The people you meet are not archetypes, but everyone will recognize part of themselves in each character. Like “The Risen: Dawning”, once I started reading “Remnants” I could not put it down, the story compelled me to read it through.
This is a well crafted horror tale that has every element a good story should have. An exciting plot, attention to detail, but best of all fleshed out, well-written and well-rounded character development. This absorbing and attention-grabbing work had me engaged from the beginning. The story flows from scene to scene effortlessly, and the author, as usual, shows exceptional ability when it comes to storytelling. Simply put, this author delivers every time for me.
This really stood out for me, with the post apocalyptic world brought to life so well, the details vivid and exciting. The characters were very well presented. It felt like I was reading about normal, down to earth people battling something that was beyond our worse nightmares. None of this superhero stuff you sometimes see. Compelling and addictive!
